Books to Look out for July!

To All the book lovers out there, a new month is here and we have more new books to read. There is no such thing as “too many books”. Here are the top 5 books we are looking forward to. You can get a copy of these books in our retail store Sapna book house. Sapna book house has a wide collection of over 5, 50,000 books. You can check it out.

Love Murder by Saul Black — Crime Thriller

It is spine-chilling serial-killer thriller featuring homicide detective Valerie Hart from the author of the critically-acclaimed THE KILLING LESSONS.  It moves at a cracking pace and as the crimes unfold they seem to hit very close to home for Valerie Hart our heroine.  As Valerie races against time to catch the masked killer the author ratchets up the tension. There are a number of twists as the novel races to an exciting conclusion. Love Murder is everything you want from a crime thriller.

Don't Close Your Eyes by Holly Seddon — Psychological Suspense
A gripping novel of psychological suspense centered on two sisters whose lives have taken them apart, and the shocking family secrets that bind them together. This is a complex story about families and the relationships within. Love, hate, jealousy, abuse-it's all here. Adults making decisions that forever change the lives. The novel is told across two timelines when Robin and Sarah are both younger and living with their parents in the late eighties and early nineties and in the present day. "Don't Close Your Eyes" is a highly addictive compulsive “I don’t want to put this down “book that has so many Twists that you genuinely will not see coming.

The Body in the Clouds by Ashley Hay — Contemporary Fiction
The Body in the Clouds tells the story of one extraordinary moment - a man falling from the sky, and surviving - and of three men who see it, in different ways and different times, as they stand on the same piece of land. It is full of rich imagery which captures the mood of the place and the time.  This skillfully written tale weaves back and forth between characters, revealing a hint of the connection of humanity through the ages.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
The Last Magician – one of my most anticipated releases for 2017. Magic, time travel, and historical fiction all rolled into one book. In one word it’s epic. The story jumps around a bit in the beginning to different time periods to set the stage. We start off in New York at the turn of the twentieth century. From the amazing characters to the action, the magic, the world building, the descriptions, and just about everything else in The Last Magician is tremendously well portrayed. This twisty tale of alchemy and magic in Gilded Age New York will keep you guessing until the very last page.

The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
Four teenage girls forge a powerful friendship at boarding school. They spend virtually every spare moment together. The girls play a game in which the goal is lying successfully. When their idyllic life is suddenly shattered by tragedy, they must go their separate ways. Seventeen years later, the girls are together again and it feels like they've never been apart. Soon, though, the past lies come back to haunt the present. The story keeps you spellbound as it unfolds- there's never a dull moment. The entire novel is so fast paced you don't feel cheated at all.

Why is Reading the Most Popular in Bangalore?

 “To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from almost all the miseries of life.” — W. Somerset Maugham

Reading is an acquired habit. We start young and almost immediately we assume books to be the learning object. As we grow, we find out it is much more than that. Reading is not necessarily an academically related activity. It serves many different purposes and sometimes a fun one too. Gone are the days where book worms and book nerds were considered the introverts of the society. They are also the most regular people and Bangalore has embraced them in a more welcoming way compared to others.
We all know Bangalore for its lively night life, with the young and vibrant spending their evenings in a club, dancing to loud music. But now parties have a new trend, ever heard of Bring Your Own Book (BYOB) Party? Yes, a meetup club in Bangalore invites people for interesting conversations about any book that everyone would love and see what others are reading.
Also, a recent trend of emerging book cafes suggests that Bangalorian’s prefer a coffee break with a book by their side to take their mind off stress. Nevertheless, a book is a perfect companion and a pleasure to escaping reality and getting immersed in a different world
Although digitally enormous variety of content is available at any time of day, and the material is available in a number of formats and through a range of digitally connected devices an Internet and Technology Research Centre, surveys have proved that when people reach for a book, it is much more likely to be a traditional print book than a digital product. This trend has remained unchanged from the year 2012.
Read a book because it’s basically one of the most enjoyable things you could ever do. And has absolutely no limits to the places one can travel. Sapna Book House has a wide collection of over 5, 50,000 books. You can get lost in the mini book world in here. Pick a book and make it your favorite today at Sapna book house.

Do Your Part to Save the Environment

Do Your Part to Save the Environment

Every day we marvel at the fact that the world is changing and developing so fast that we are hardly able to keep up with it. We are so involved in this evolution process, we forgot all about the beginning. The Earth has lost all its natural beauty because we just used them and moved on. Now we need them more than ever. As we rose out of nature, we acquired some defects like pollution (all kinds like water, air, noise and more) and global warming tops the list. Here are the top 4 ways you can be a part in saving the environment. Do the deed today

1. Plant a tree

Global warming has become a threat to all mankind. It is one of the primary concerns in the civilized world. The concrete jungle has taken over all the natural forestation and now we are suffering from the ultimate climate change.Trees perform three major climate functions: They absorb carbon, which they pull from the atmosphere, creating a cooling effect; their dark green leaves absorb light from the sun, heating Earth's surface. To undo the damage we inflicted on this earth, let’s begin by planting a tree per house. If your house cannot facilitate a tree, try terrace garden. Every effort counts.

2. Saving water

Water is the source of life. Considering that every single person on the planet needs water to survive, it seems strange that many of us would have no problem leaving the tap water running. Everything on Earth requires water to sustain itself. But abusing water means that we are lessening its ability to provide us with this basic necessity. Here are some of the basic things we can do save water;
  • ·         Rainwater harvesting (making use of the natural resources while it lasts),
  • ·         Take efforts in maintaining the quality of water
  • ·         Turn off the taps when not require
  • ·         Repair the leaking faucets

3. Recycle

Recycling begins at home. It is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. When we recycle, used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources. It helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. Here are few simple things you can recycle;
  • ·         Newspaper
  • ·         Plastic bottles
  • ·         Clothes
  • ·         Tires

4. Save Electricity

Electricity plays such vital role in our life these days, without which we feel dormant and lifeless. Conserving electricity serves the double purpose of helping stop global warming and saving a lot of money over time.  Even our small attempts to save electricity will be helpful. At home, we should be very careful regarding the electric appliances used by us. Here are the ways you can save electricity;

  • ·         Embrace natural light
  • ·         Change your bulbs (CFL & LED)
  • ·         Unplug when not in use
  • ·         Switch off when walking out

Sapna book house strongly believes in saving our environment. They have taken the initiative of abandoning plastic bags for good. They strongly recommend recycling and going green. Here is wishing you a Happy world environment day.

1   To Kill a Mockingbird – Harper Lee

The most unforgettable novel from our school days. A timeless classic set in the sleepy Alabama town of Maycomb during the period of great depression (1929-1939). It teaches various important lessons in a subtle tone. Atticus Finch one of the main protagonists takes a courageous stand against racism and decides to fight a battle for a wrongly convicted person. Scout, Jem, and Dill provide a comic relief in rather busy and scary circumstances. It often reminds the good old days we once spent on summer vacations and school days

1   Harry Potter Series – J.K. Rowling

We boarded the Hogwarts Express along with Harry Potter and his friends in 1997 and reached our destination only in 2007. J.K. Rowling managed to keep us hooked for 10 years (not including the movie world). The magical school world of Harry made our school days extra special. It is a total package from our favorite teacher to the least favorite and the friends we make for life and the way our dreams shape up into reality. Our school life is simply “mischief managed”

1The Adventures of Tom Sawyer – Mark Twain

Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn, precocious twelve-year-old children out in the world for adventure. This book is a great American classic. The boys are adventurers, dreamers, tricksters in simple they sum up the phase of “Boyhood”. The trouble makers keep us laughing and guessing what their antics will lead to. This book reminds people of the hay days often.

1The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald

A great classic from the jazz age, a perfect look into the 1920’s in America. The Great Gatsby showcases his world through his rose tinted glasses but behind those glasses he goes through every emotion a normal human being does. He is a dreamer and he is relatable to every teen who looks forward to a life with no struggle and only celebrations. The novel eventually shatters the tinted glass and sees right through deception.

1 Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

The story is set in the Victorian era and it is a perfect thriller. It has probably one of the most unimaginable twists and turns. The novel though set in the 19th century it has some progressive thoughts for the age. The tale has a balance of love, suspense, thriller and laughter perfectly balanced. The title character Jane Eyre, despite going through so much in life still shows perseverance and the will to move forward. It is a classic read.
